1. Introduction
KinLamp (“we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information the KinLamp mobile application and related services (the “Service”) collect, how we use it, when it is shared, and the choices available to you. This policy is designed to meet Apple App Store Review Guidelines and applicable privacy laws.
2. Information We Collect
Depending on how you use KinLamp, we may process the following categories of data:
| Data Category | Examples | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Profile inputs | Nickname, gender, birth month and year | You provide voluntarily in-app |
| Temporal context | Current device date and time when a light scan or session starts | Device clock at session start |
| Location data | Latitude and longitude (approximate coordinates) | Device location services, only if you grant permission when starting a scan or session |
| Light scan data | Estimated illuminance (Lux), correlated color temperature (CCT), and related sensor metadata | Front-facing camera / ambient light sampling during ENV_PROBE scans you initiate |
| Account & purchase data | Email (if registered), subscription tier, App Store transaction identifiers | You / Apple In-App Purchase |
| Technical data | Device platform, app version, anonymized terminal identifier | App automatically on launch |
What we do not collect for LLM requests: We do not transmit or store personally identifiable information such as your real full legal name, government ID, phone number, home address, or banking or payment card details to third-party AI providers.
3. Purpose of Data Processing
We use collected information solely to operate and improve the Service:
- Geolocation (latitude/longitude): Used only to tune scan context and optional spatial-orientation features. Location is requested when you start a scan or session; you may deny permission and still use core features.
- Light scan & temporal inputs: Lux/CCT estimates, birth month/year, gender, nickname, and device timestamp personalize readout context and optional AI interpretation for mindfulness and self-reflection. They are not used for fortune-telling, credit, employment, or insurance decisions.
- Account data: To authenticate you, sync preferences, manage space library pass tiers, and maintain purchase entitlements.
- Technical logs: To secure the Service, diagnose errors, and prevent abuse.
4. Third-Party AI Integration
Optional AI interpretation features may send anonymized or masked text parameters to secured Large Language Model providers (such as OpenAI or equivalent enterprise LLM vendors) over encrypted HTTPS connections. These requests contain scan and session context needed to generate readout and mindfulness text — for example, spatial focus labels and non-identifying personalization variables — but exclude direct identifiers listed above.
- AI output is readout and reflection guidance only — not fortune-telling or predictions.
- Third-party providers process data according to their own privacy terms and our contractual safeguards.
- We do not sell your personal information to AI vendors or advertisers.
- AI output is generated on demand and is not used to build marketing profiles about you.
5. Apple App Store & Payment Processing
In-app purchases are handled by Apple. We receive transaction receipts and product identifiers from Apple to validate entitlements. We do not receive or store your full payment card number.
6. Data Storage and Retention
- On-device data: Local preferences, cached selections, and session variables persist on your device until you clear app data or uninstall the app.
- Server-side profile: Account profile fields and entitlement records are retained while your account is active and as needed to comply with law or resolve disputes.
- API session logs: Diagnostic and request logs are deleted or anonymized within thirty (30) days, unless a longer period is required for security investigations or legal obligations.
7. Legal Bases (where applicable)
Where GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on: (a) performance of a contract (providing the Service you request); (b) legitimate interests (security, product improvement); and (c) consent (location access and optional profile fields). You may withdraw consent at any time through device settings or by contacting us.
8. Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited data with:
- Cloud infrastructure and LLM providers under confidentiality obligations
- Apple, for purchase validation
- Authorities when required by law or to protect rights and safety
9. Your Rights and Choices
You may exercise the following controls:
- Reset local data: Remove on-device KinLamp data by deleting and reinstalling the app, or by clearing stored preferences where the app provides that option.
- Location: Disable location permission for KinLamp in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.
- Account erasure: Email kinlampworld@gmail.com from your registered address to request deletion of server-side account data. We will verify your request and complete erasure within a reasonable period consistent with Apple Review Guidelines and applicable law.
- Access and correction: You may update nickname, gender, and birth information in the profile editor, or contact support for other requests.
10. Children’s Privacy
KinLamp is not directed to children under 12. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 12 without verifiable parental consent. If you believe a child under 12 has provided data without such consent, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
11. International Transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we implement appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.
12. Security
We use industry-standard measures including TLS encryption in transit, access controls, and minimization of data sent to third parties. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. The effective date at the top will reflect the latest version. Material changes may also be communicated in-app where appropriate.
